When You want to speak with Angels

Friday, May 30th, 2008

by Rose Smith, BA, DRM, ATMS

Wondering how to speak with Angels? Many people are. I’m not talking about Hell’s Angels, the bike riding kind, no, I’m talking about Angelic beings who in spiritual reality; are everywhere. In fact there are more Angels on earth than people and there is an Angel for every type of issue.

Angels communicate with us in a number of ways, sometimes it’s face to face in the physical realm, sometimes through our dreams and sometimes they will create ‘Signs and Portents’. These are little confirmation messages that you have been touched by an Angel. Synchronicity or signs working together in a sequence of unusual events can be a message from Angels pointing you in the right direction.

You may ask ‘What do they tell us?’ Often it’s a message of enlightenment and reassurance which is given in a split second when a whole lot of new information is imparted to you. It may be a message from a loved one who has passed and cannot appear themselves or it maybe a confirmation that you are on the right track to making an important decision. You may hear your Angel in words or you may recognize the essence of what is being said to you telepathically.

Angels can appear in a number of ways, including the well recognized form of having large feathered wings, or as humanoids radiating light or even as balls of light. However they appear to you, they will always impart a feeling of love and security. When Angels are present there is no fear, for they are beings of love.

Primary Intention

If you wish to communicate with Angels, make angel talk a prime intention in your life. Focus on it and be sincere in your desire to achieve effective communication. Open your heart to the possibility and state your intention to form a relationship with Angels. It can take years of focus and desire, but the rewards are worth it. It may not happen overnight, you are required to build a relationship and it maybe several years until you see the first flicker of an Angel’s wing.

It took me ten years of earnest meditation to see Michael the Archangel in his glorious entirety. Or it may happen in an instant with no preparation by you at all.

Meditation & Rituals

Meditate, meditate, and when you’ve done that, meditate some more. I can’t stress this enough if want to have conversations with Angels. Make a start of meditating just 5 minutes morning and night and build up the time gradually. Pretty soon, you will notice the time flies and you will be surprised how much time has elapsed whilst you have been in meditation. Set the intention before your meditation that you wish to communicate with Angels and then just let this thought go.

Do not judge what you experience in meditation, if you allow your ego to make decisions about your meditation experiences, you could end up thinking you are ‘doing it wrong’ or what you experienced ‘can’t possibly be right’. Just follow the energy and then let it go. Aim for a calm mind with no thoughts which is a completely blank canvas that the Angel can leave messages on, just for you.

If it helps, light a candle or do a ritual, burning incense to help you calm down and ready yourself. You can write down on paper any limiting beliefs you might have such as “I’m not good enough to talk to angels” and burn them.

People Can Be Angels Too!

Angels can appear as regular physical people (without wings!) who will help you in times of need. Sometimes these regular people are channeling angel energies and sometimes they are actual angels who appear in human form. Rare but it does happen.

One thing I’ve noticed is that higher order angels are economic with their words. That is they don’t talk much and usually only say what is important. If you meet an angel, a word may not even be spoken. A look from that angel’s eyes will be sufficient to let you know that you are in the presence of an angel. You will know that feeling as it is truly extraordinary and something you will probably not experience again in your lifetime.

Sometimes It Just Happens!

You might not expect it, but sometimes angels appear unexpectedly. A couple of early mornings ago, I awoke to find my guardian angel standing at the side of my bed. Unannounced and not summoned, he stood there silently watching over me while I slept. I asked his name several times, but couldn’t hear his response, despite seeing his lips move. Then I was filled with the awareness that he was protecting me. So I calmly just went back to sleep feeling secure.

Angels will often pop up in times of emotional turmoil or physical danger. I remember being in a vehicle once that should have been hit by a semi trailer and somehow wasn’t. I was filled with the awareness that I should have been killed. I, still to this day, have no logical explanation why my passenger door wasn’t struck by the truck and yet I know it was angels who saved me. I have had several near death experiences and have seen angels standing in the light hovering around talking in soft calm and reassuring voices.

Angels are everywhere and with practice you too can have a conversation with one wherever you are and wherever you go.

What You Need to Know Before Casting a Magic Spell

Friday, May 30th, 2008

by Victor Epand

The use of magic is an integral part of Wicca. The involved process of casting spells includes gathering materials and adhering to fundamentals of the religion. Above all else, the Wiccan Rede thought of “an it harm none, do as thou wilt” (translation: do whatever you would like as long as it doesn’t hurt anyone) must be heeded. Manipulating others or inflicting harm will be repaid three times according to the Law of Threefold Return.

Colors play a major part in magic and spell casting whether they appear in altar cloths, clothing, candles, stones or tinted water. Each color has a different representation or power it can bring to a spell. Red is sexuality, courage and energy. Pink is romance, love, and affection. Yellow is confidence, creativity, and luck. Green represents wealth, growth and fertility. Blue is peace and protection. Other colors and meanings can be found online.

Herbs and oils are used in magic but caution must be expressed in handling them. Just because something comes from nature doesn’t mean it’s harmless. Wolfbane and Belladonna are just two examples of poisonous herbs. Many oils and herbs are also irritants or allergens. Protective gloves and caution need to be used to prevent any unfortunate accidents. You want to make magic happen, not an emergency.

Stones and crystals are the most portable ritual item in magic. A spell can be placed on one or a collection of stones and placed in a bag to be carried with you. The scent of herbs and oils might draw attention but stones (hopefully) are odor free. Pentagrams are also wearable but if you aren’t able to due to work or school rules, a traditional star like children draw still has five points. It is an acceptable alternative.

Before beginning a spell casting ritual, it is important to realize what the true nature of the spell is. A love spell, for example, does not make that person you’re yearning for suddenly fall head over heels in love with you. That would be a violation of the Wiccan Rede since it is a manipulation. A love spell makes the caster more open to the idea of love and more capable of expressing it. Through changing yourself you can change what is brought unto you by the world.

It is going to be difficult to cast a magic spell without an actual written spell. If you are already a member of a coven that has a Book of Shadows, then you probably wouldn’t need to be reading this. Individuals can find some basic spells online or in publications at New Age bookstores. Chat up those who have been practicing Wicca for some time for some advice and they may share a few of their spells if you seem genuine.

The difficulty of the spell is going to depend largely on what kind of magic needs to be done. For minor magic (like asking for luck) a few ingredients and a short often rhyming phrase will suffice. Larger spells may require the help of a coven who can assist you make a stronger calling on the four elements.

Women Business Owners, Build Your Self-Esteem and Deepen Your Confidence

Friday, May 30th, 2008

by Beth Davis

After reading thousands of hands in the hand analysis (non-predictive palmistry) business, I would say the “Life Lesson” of humanity is self-esteem issues. If you doubt yourself, how are you going to trust something as subtle, fast and laser sharp as your intuition for making business decisions?

Having good self-esteem is vital to harnessing the power of your intuition in business. And here’s the catch: If women business owners ask for help from their intuition and don’t listen, their intuitive awareness may go into hibernation. If you ask and listen, but don’t ACT, then you create stagnation, procrastination and all sorts of challenges.

Here are three quick tips, learned over years of palm reading, for women business owners to build their self-esteem and deepen their confidence in their inner guidance:

Spirituality and Business Tip #1: Delete all non-essential email for one week.

Answer only those emails that are personal or business related. You don’t have to unsubscribe from everything or do anything drastic. Just cut out the noise for one week.

Notice your discomfort in deleting your non-essential email. (I receive hundreds of emails per day. Only 50 are business emails that need responses and by responding to those emails, I actually ADD efficiency to my life.) Notice if you feel anxious that you are going to miss something. Notice if you can’t do it this week and want to put it off to next week. Who REALLY has the answers to your life? You or a message in an electronic box?

Spirituality and Business Tip #2: Don’t do anything – and I do mean anything – that you don’t want to do.

This is different from not doing something because it’s uncomfortable or because you are scared. There is a fine distinction here. If you don’t want to do something, you know it in every cell of your body. BUT you may be tempted to do it anyway in order to: avoid someone’s wrath or criticism, be pleasing, get your way, manipulate someone or get revenge. Just to name some of the many methods of self-betrayal that I see in my palmistry practice.

Spirituality and Business Tip #3: Make commitments to your self that you can keep.

As a palmistry expert, I recommend that instead of saying, “I’m going to start working out five days a week, start writing for two hours every day and start organizing all my paperwork every week,” why not commit to: “I’m going to move my body twice a week in a way that is pleasurable to me. I will write five minutes on Friday and build upon that. I will hire someone to organize my paperwork.” Many women business owners in my palm reading business have learned from this tip. By making commitments you can keep, you build your self-esteem, and hence, your faith in yourself and in your intuition in making business decisions.

MAKING UP: How To Get Back Your Ex-Lover

Friday, May 30th, 2008

by Kate Falken

Regaining lost attraction is the key to restoring your lost relationship with your special man or woman. If you are able to do that, obstacles that he or she pointed to as impossible to overcome will fade and become insignificant in comparison to the thought of losing you.

As Brian Caniglia, author of the astounding best seller HOW TO GET BACK YOUR EX says, “People break up for one reason… and one reason only. People break up because there is a loss of attraction. What brought you together initially (attraction) will be what brings you back together now. This is the only consistently effective approach to getting them back. In the ebook, I’ll show you a very specific way of how to use it to get back your ex boyfriend or girlfriend.”

People use many different phrases to express their desire reinstate their relationship with their ex.

Of all the ways to phrase it, I think that “I want to win back my ex” is the most appropriate. Here’s why…

Getting back together with your lost love is not about you “getting” them back or even relationship repair. It is about winning them back. “Winning” them back implies a few important things semantically. It implies effort on your part. More specifically, it implies putting effort toward improving yourself so that your ex will want to come back to you and this is, in essence, what it’s all about.

You see, in order to convince your ex that you should get another chance, they have to believe it is likely the relationship will be different than before the breakup. The best way to encourage this belief, they will have to see (and believe) that YOU are changed, improved, and different in good ways.

There simply isn’t an equally effective way to win back your ex. What are some ways of doing this?

There are a few important things that you can do to win back your ex girlfriend or boyfriend but first, let me tell you what you should definitely not do:

1. Stalk them (yes, it’s obvious, but you’d be surprised…).

2. Argue and reason with them.

3. Fish for sympathy by acting depressed.

4. Buy them a gift or write a poem.

5. Manipulate them with some kind of leverage (sex, money, jealousy, etc.).

6. Tell them over and over how much you love them.

If you can avoid using any of these tactics to get back together with your ex you’ll already be ahead of the game when you start using my strategy.

They will need to perceive you as changed in positive ways and that improving yourself is a big part of this. But, there is another essential ingredient… you need to raise the level of attraction between you and your ex to a boiling point.

The perception of change makes them willing to give it another shot. The attraction is what convinces them to get back together. The problem is that attraction is extremely counter-intutive. What we often feel we should do to create attraction actually ends up making a person less attracted to us (chances are you’ve noticed this in the past).

To help you get back your ex boyfriend or ex girlfriend I’ve created a clear, effective, step-by-step plan that will:

1. Make it so your ex notices that you are changed.

2. Raises the level of attraction between the two of you.

Break ups are caused by one thing… a loss of attraction. It may not seem true but think about it for a moment. If someone is strongly attracted to another person they will be willing to overcome any obstacle in order to be with them. They won’t leave them and they will be infinitely more forgiving of any faults or transgressions. When attraction is high a person’s oddities and quirks are endearing. But, when attraction dips, those same eccentricities become irritating and annoying. Love loses it’s passion and becomes more friend-like, the relationship loses it’s excitement, and people lose interest. In one way or another, every breakup can eventually be traced back to a loss of attraction. Usually the relationship between the break up and loss of attraction is indirect… but it’s always there. The most important part of repairing a relationship is restoring that attraction.

But, attraction is a funny thing. It doesn’t work the way we think it should.

The more we try to force someone to feel attraction for us the less attracted to us they become. The more you push for relationship repair the more they will resist it. You see, your ex made a big decision when they broke up with you. They may not be certain that they made the right choice. But, when you start pushing to get back together they resist your attempts and, in doing so, become even more resolved and adamant. The more you push, the further they will pull away.

In order to repair your relationship with your ex you need to raise attraction first, and then work on the details that led to the break up. Skipping this step in the relationship repair process and you’ll be met with resistance and your efforts are likely to backfire. Why would your ex be willing to work on getting back together when they aren’t attracted to you? If there is no attraction to being in the relationship why would they expend effort on repairing the relationship? It’s unfortunate but that doesn’t mean your situation is hopeless.

Look at it this way… if someone has a red hot attraction for someone they will overcome any obstacle standing in their way in order to be with that person.

But, as attraction wanes, as it often does, obstacles that would normally be hurdled without a second thought seem more formidable. Eventually, when their level of attraction dips low enough, a person won’t be willing to overcome the obstacles and that is when they will point to that obstacle and say “This is why we must break up.”

There are very specific things that you can do to raise attraction to a point where you can repair you relationship and get back together. CLICK HERE to Learn More about HOW TO GET BACK YOUR EX!

Ghost Hunting 101

Friday, May 30th, 2008

by Dr. Rita Louise

Do you hear bumps in the night? Does your hair stand on end when you walk into a room? Maybe you feel as if someone is watching you or perhaps you think you see someone out the corner of your eye, but when you turn to look no one is there? What you may be encountering in those unsettling moments is a ghost. So before you go running out of your house screaming, let’s take a moment to talk about ghostly encounters and those that investigate this phenomena.

A ghost is believed to be the spirit or soul of a person who has remained on Earth after death. When a ghost has taken up residence in a location, it is referred to as a haunting. There are two different ways in which a ghost inhabits a location. The most common type of haunting is a residual haunting. A residual haunting is typified by ghostly energy that is static or goes through a number of movements over and over again. It can be likened to watching a movie clip that repeats itself or a record album that has a skip in it, causing the needle to jump back to an earlier point on the album and begin again.

The second classification of haunting is the classic haunting. In a classic haunting the ghost displays intelligence and interacts with the people in the environment. It is not uncommon during a classic haunting for items to be moved around, for lights or electrical appliances to turn on and off, to hear voices our sounds out of nowhere or to be touched, tickled, stroked or even shoved. These ghosts often reflect the personality of an individual, even after their death. With this type of haunting, the aroma of flowers, perfume, cigarette smoke or other scents that are associated with the individual are often detected.

So whether you think you are being haunted by a ghost and want to have a group of trained professionals to come to your home or are interested in investigating all that goes bump in the night, but don’t know where to begin, here’s some information that can help you get started.

It is held that ghosts are electro-magnetic in origin and they create these fields when trying to manifest into this dimension. The energy that is given off by a ghost causes disruptions in the locations magnetic field, thus making it detectable by specialized equipment and psychics alike.

Because the presence of a ghost can be detected by specific types of equipment, a ghost hunter can become well equipped with a number of affordable pieces of equipment, many of which you may already own. From basic to advanced, there are many different types of equipment you can use to detect an otherworldly presence. For someone thinking about participating in an investigation, this doesn’t mean you have to own every piece of equipment in order to perform a reliable investigation. It does mean that you should at least possess a basic set of tools to use.

Basic Equipment

35mm or Digital Camera – For a beginner, having a camera is probably the easiest and least expensive way to begin. Pictures, whether digital or recorded on film can capture paranormal activity, activity that is often invisible to the naked eye. This is especially true in the case of documenting the presence of orbs and ectoplasm.

Notebook & Pen or Pencil – Simple as this may be, it is always a good idea to have something to record any notes, findings or experiences you may have during an investigation.

Flashlight – Many times an investigation will take you to a dark or foreboding location such as a cemetery, old warehouse, abandoned building or other place that is dark or without electricity. In these instances you will need to have a portable light source.

Extra Batteries – Depending on the paranormal activity of a location, batteries oftentimes will mysteriously and unexpectedly lose their charge leaving you in the dark. Regardless of the type of equipment you use, make sure you bring extra batteries along to replenish depleted ones.

Intermediate Equipment

EMF Detector – The Electromagnetic Field Detector is probably one of the most important pieces of equipment to own if you are serious about doing an investigation. In addition to detecting the energy fields of ghosts, it is a key tool to use when taking baseline readings of a site. A baseline reading is a preliminary evaluation of a location, where investigators identify any existing or man made electromagnetic fields such as those created by power lines or electrical appliances.

Digital Video Camera – Video cameras can be a useful investigation tool. Unlike still cameras, a video camera will document any activity in its entirety including the length of time the phenomena occurs, the surrounding conditions, as well as the phenomena itself. A tripod to rest the video camera on is also helpful, especially if it is going to be left in a stationary position to record the activity in a specific location.

Tape Recorder with an External Microphone – There is no better way to capture EVP’s (electronic voice phenomena) than through the use of a tape recorder. Whether using a traditional tape recorder with high quality tapes or a digital recorder, an external microphone should always be used. A detached mic will eliminate the sounds of internal gears and turning wheels that can contaminate your recording.

Advanced Equipment

Motion Detectors – Motion detectors can be used to sense the movement of unseen forces. Many need to be plugged in to an outlet, but battery operated ones are also available. Before you go out and buy one, decide which type will best support you investigatory needs.

Thermal Scanner – A thermal scanner or non-contact thermometer can be used to detect rapid temperature changes. A change of ten degrees or more from the ambient temperature (the temperature of the surrounding area) can indicate an ethereal presence.

Psychics – As An Investigative Tool

In addition to tools such as cameras, meters and gauges that are used by ghost hunters, many groups also utilize the services of trained psychics as a means of gathering information about a site. This is the role I play when working with ghost hunting groups.

Finding a true psychic to work with can be a real asset to the quality of your investigation. They can play an invaluable role in supporting the efforts of any paranormal investigation. Like a good piece of equipment, a psychic can help to detect anomalies as well as provide additional insights into the nature of activity encountered.

If your group decides to include the use of a psychic as part of the investigation team, there are a few items that should be considered. To maximize the objectivity of the investigation, it is critical that the psychic go into a location “cold”. This means that they do not know the details of the location or of any activity that may have been encountered by other members or the property owner. Telling the psychic the history of a property can cause the individual to become “contaminated”, which can make it difficult for them to differentiate what they perceive from what they have been told.

Conducting An Investigation

With at least a basic kit of equipment in hand, you are now ready to explore the world of paranormal phenomena. Before you begin, there are a few ground rules to consider. First, never go on an investigation alone, in addition to personal safety, you never know what may happen. Next, consider the fact that ghost hunting groups are often judged by their behavior and professionalism – so always try to be respectful of the people, places and situations you may encounter.

To do an investigation, the first step is to select a location. Locations can include cemeteries, old buildings, historic sites, private homes and businesses. Always get permission to be on a site. This will keep you from getting in trouble for trespassing. Before you begin a formal investigation it is a good idea to do some research on the site. Talk to the owner, check out old newspapers, or contact the local historic society to see if anything happened there in the past. It is also a good idea to evaluate the terrain for potential hazards or/or to identify places where you can setup stationary video cameras, motion detectors or tape recorders.

Most investigations occur after dark, between the hours of 9pm and 6am. These hours are considered the “psychic hours” and are believed to be the best time to record paranormal activity.

When you get to the selected location, walk around to get a feel for it. Next, set up any stationary equipment and take baseline readings of the site. Then let the investigation begin. Take pictures, shoot video, record for EVP and take meter readings. Take them everywhere and anywhere, especially if you feel something or get a reading on another piece of equipment. When you are done walking around a site, turn your stationary equipment on and let it run while you and your group are out of the area.

When you have finished collecting your data, it is time for analysis. Here each picture, video and tape is reviewed for evidence of a haunting. This is probably the most important part of any investigation. As you review your materials, be skeptical. Look for earthly causes of any phenomena. Was someone smoking in the area? Was the room or location dusty? Where there reflective surfaces that could be the cause of the anomaly in your image? It is important to make sure your evidence will stand up to scrutiny by eliminating any other explanations. This will give your data more credibility.

As you pore over your data, what you will find is that not every location you go to will have ghostly activity. You may discover that many of the things you initially detected during your investigation actually have real world explanations as opposed to supernatural ones. What keeps many ghost hunters going is that one-in-five chance that this investigation will be the “real” thing.

When your analysis is done, presenting your finding to the home or property owner or sharing your results with others is often done. Many groups also post the results of their investigations on their group’s website, thus share the outcome of their investigation with the rest of the world.

If you are interested in ghost hunting or think your have a ghost hanging around in your local, there is a plethora of information available on the worldwide web. Here you can find articles about ghost hunting in general, stories of other people’s ghostly encounters, places that sell ghost hunting equipment and even sites hosted by ghost hunting groups in your geographic area.

So if you think you are hearing bumps in the night, don’t be afraid – it just might be a ghost!

Emotional Abuse – The Warning Signs

Friday, May 30th, 2008

By Sarah Good

“He doesn’t hit me, so there is no abuse in my relationship.” There is a lot more to domestic violence than just battery. The emotional wounds can run very deep, and actually take longer to heal than the physical ones.

In this article I refer to the abuser as “he,” because most reported cases of domestic violence the male is the abuser (but it does sometimes happens the other way). I will focus on the typical signs of emotional, verbal, physical, and sexual abuse, and how to identify if you are in an abusive relationship.

  • Has he ever threatened to hit you, actually hit you, shoved you, or grabbed you?
  • Does he respect the women in his life (mother, sister, daughter)?
  • Does his personality change dramatically after drinking alcohol?
  • Does he easily show his anger and/or hostility?
  • Does he try to take advantage of you sexually (either forcing sex, or just relieving himself and not caring about your pleasure)?
  • Is he a dependent person and controls by soliciting pity?
  • Does he put you down or degrade you in subtle and even not so subtle ways (this includes name calling)?
  • Does he always have to win at any kind of competitive activities (including driving)?
  • Does he often complain that his boss or authority figures, “don’t know what they’re doing?”
  • Does he often insist where you will eat and what activities you will be doing together?
  • Do you always have an excuse for his behavior?

If you’ve gotten this far in the article then you probably have a problem, or know someone who does. Abusive behavior is a choice. It damages your partner. It damages you, and it damages your children. The abuse does not begin with the relationship. Often women remark how loving and affectionate he was when they first started dating. Usually the abuse creeps up slowly over many years, but there are some warning signs to let you know if your relationship has the potential to become abusive.

Jealousy: Sometimes when we begin a relationship, we feel secure if he acts a little jealous, but jealousy has nothing to do with love. It is a sign of possessiveness and a lack of trust. He may call often or drop by unexpectedly. He may encourage you not to work for fear that you will meet someone else.

Controlling Behavior: He may say he is just concerned, but he will be angry if you are late. He may not want you to make personal decisions, like what you will wear, or who you will see. Or, he may try to control all the money.

Quick Involvement: Many abused women knew their abuser for less than six months before they were married. He may come on like a whirlwind claiming “I’ve never felt this way about anyone else before.” He will pressure you for a commitment.

Isolation: The abuser often tries to cut his partner off from her friends and family. Does he accuse your friends of “causing trouble?” The abuser may to get you to move farther away, or he may insist that you two can share one car.

Blames Others for His Problems and Feelings: Does he feel that people are “doing him wrong,” or “out to get him?” Does he say, “You made me mad?” Only he can make himself mad. It is his choice, not yours. You can’t make him happy either. Does he make you responsible for his emotions?

Verbal Abuse: The abuser will often degrade his partner by calling her names, cursing her, or degrading her accomplishments. This can include waking his partner to argue, or not letting her go to sleep. Does he say things that are meant to be cruel and hurtful?

Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde: Many abusers have sudden changes in mood. Explosiveness and moodiness are typical of people who beat their partners, and these behaviors are related to other characteristics like hypersensitivity.

If you think you may be in an emotionally abusive relationship, get help. There are many support groups on-line and face to face. Contact the national hotline for domestic abuse at 1-800-799-7233. They will give you the number of a local shelter where you can get help. You don’t have to go to shelter to get the support you need. Many shelters offer a 24 hour hot line where you can call and get your questions answered. Often they offer classes and support groups to help you to understand the cycle of abuse and how to prevent it.

I am a firm believer in “heal the family, and heal the world.” If we can stop the violence and abuse at home, perhaps someday we will find world peace.
